When I produce an audio story, I listen just as much for the silence as I do for the words. I listen for the long breaths - the dog whimpering to get in - the shaky handling of a cup. Every sound holds its own little story, and that story is often forgotten. I want to remember.
I take pride in producing audio from the real world. Audio that is alive and vibrant. That often includes reportage. Besides reportage, I am skilled in almost any facet of producing audio:
Usually I am praised for my ability to interview with a real nerve and reach people beyond even themselves.
I cut and arrange tape so that a character’s usual response is: I had no idea I was such a good storyteller.
I sound design so that you will not know what hit you.
And then I write - script writing is one of the most undervalued parts of audio work. When done with care and skill, it can elevate a story from mediocre to absolutely breathtaking.
And of course I know the technical part. I record, I cut, I filter, I mix.
If I don’t know, I’ll find out.
I have worked as an independent audio producer since 2015. I have collaborated with a number of producers, institutions and artists - I have taught long and short classes on both the craft and poetry of audio storytelling and the importance of real world sound (!).
I am currently teaching full time at Vallekilde Højskole.
My work has been featured and awarded internationally as well as locally, and I have received the Danish Arts Councils work grant in 2018.
